Standby makes sense when outages are long, when someone in the house depends on powered medical equipment, or when you're simply done resetting clocks every storm season.

What size generator do I need for my house?
Start with your HVAC, not your square footage. A 4-ton air conditioner is usually a 22kW-and-up conversation once you add the rest of the house — but the real number comes off your outdoor unit's nameplate, which is exactly what our fit quiz and site visit read.
Can my gas meter run a standby generator?
Maybe not without an upgrade. A 22–26kW unit adds serious gas demand on top of your furnace and water heater, and plenty of residential meters need upsizing first. It's a Huntsville Utilities question, and it's worth asking before you buy — not after.
How long does installation take?
